High above the world, the Moon drifted alone each night. She watched children laugh in their dreams, owls hoot in the forest, and rivers glitter under her light. Yet, she felt a little lonely. One evening, she whispered to the stars, “I wish I had a friend.” The stars twinkled kindly but were too far away to talk much. The Earth was busy spinning, and the Sun was always on the opposite side. Then, one small cloud floated by and said, “I’ll be your friend! I can visit you often.” The Moon beamed with joy.
